Last week I visited the Bologna Children's book fair which was a great and very inspiring experience as usual. Also I'm very pleased to say that my Italian publisher, Corraini Edizioni picked up an award for best children's publisher in Europe. I first met Corraini 10 years ago in 2004, and we have worked together on and off ever since! To find out more about Corraini and their books, visit their website here.

Clarks shoes

Last year I was commissioned by Shoot Europe to create some illustrations for Clarks spring/summer children's shoes campaign - called 'How to wear'. The project involved creating some illustrated backgrounds and elements which were later animated around live action of kids. I worked with director Adam Brown and animator Jamie Jones who made the drawings come to life in a truly amazing way! It was very exciting to see my drawings animated. You can see the drawings on Clarks website, and the animation here although unfortunately it wasn't used in the end.

Illustration for Resurgence & Ecologist magazine
I created this piece of a man in a hammock years ago for a studio exhibition on the theme of Happiness. Originally a silkscreen print, it now appears in this month's issue of Resurgence & Ecologist magazine, to accompany an article about Leisure. You can see the piece online here.

The Ketchup thief
An illustration for the March issue of Red magazine, to accompany an article called 'Partners in crime'. The piece explores the small misdemeanours of every day life performed either individually or as a couple - from re-gifting children's presents to eating stuff before it is paid for in supermarkets, to stealing ketchup sachets from service stations!

Healthy Super Bowl snacks
An illustration for Baylor health about some healthy things to snack on whilst watching the Super Bowl. There's some nice ideas here - guacamole and veggies instead of crisps and dip, and baked sweet potato fries instead of chips. You can see the image on the Baylor health website here.

Ilustrarte exhibition
Last week the children's book illustration biennial 'Ilustrarte' opened in Lisbon at the museum of electricity. Three of my pieces from 'Drawing in the Sea' published by Edizioni Corraini were chosen for the show - 'Large and small', 'The Bermuda triangle', and 'Deep sea divers'. I am grateful to fellow illustrator and exhibitor Gaia Stella for taking these pictures, as I haven't been able to visit yet but am hoping to do so soon! The exhibition is on in Lisbon until April 13th, after which it moves to Madrid and Ghent. More information is available on the Ilustrarte website.
