The Poundshop in Manchester!

The Poundshop is an amazing pop up shop selling great, affordable designer products under the strict price bands of £1, £5 and £10. This time the shop is being held at the Chinese arts centre in Manchester where it had a very successful launch on Saturday. I am selling my 'Zany zoo' notebooks (a collaboration with Noodoll), and my bike owl tote bags, all priced at £5. There are 4 notebook designs available, a problem solving giraffe, a wordy aardvark, a creative kangaroo and a mathematical moose. Notebooks have tactile embossed cover details, cloth binding and plain white paper inside.   The shop is open Tuesday - Saturday 10am - 5pm until June 22nd, and products are also available to buy online. Get down there and grab yourself a bargain!

Fishing in Turin?!

Whilst at the Turin book fair, I did some children's workshops based on my new book 'Drawing in the Sea'. The theme was fishing - children had great fun first of all making 'the sea' out of large bits of blue paper and decorating it with waves, and marine animals and plants. Then, they made fish and other sea creatures out of coloured paper, and finally fishing rods out of wooden sticks, string and magnets. By attaching paper clips to each sea creature, kids could then fish for them out of their seas and catch them with their magnets!  'Drawing in the Sea' is now available from my online shop.

Floral fringe at Knepp castle

I had a lovely time selling my wares over the weekend at the floral fringe fair, held in the beautiful grounds of the Knepp castle estate in Shipley, not far from West Grinstead in West Sussex. The weather was perfect and the fair had an amazing 5000 or so visitors, twice as many as last year! Here are a few photos of the event.

Floral Fringe fair

This coming weekend I am once again taking part in the Floral fringe fair, a 'quirky, foodie, arty, plant-aholics wildlife event with a vintage twist!' There will be over 100 stalls and I will be selling my books, cards, prints, stationery, tote bags and more. The event will be held at Knepp Castle, a large country estate in West Sussex just south of Horsham. The fair is open Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd June from 10.30am until 5.00pm. For more information visit the floral fringe Facebook page. Hope to see you there!

Turin book fair

I'm just back from a few days in the beautiful city of Turin where I visited the annual book fair and saw my new book in print for the very first time! The fair itself was very large and extremely busy, different to Bologna in that it's a public event (rather than industry geared), and almost all the exhibitors were Italian. There was loads going on, including a huge number of workshops, talks, discussions, cooking demonstrations, free ice-cream and more! I was there to do some workshops based on the new book and also do talk at a high school. Here are some pics of the fair and the city - more on the workshops soon...

Drawing in the Sea

My new book for Edizioni Corraini, 'Drawing in the Sea', is out this week, and will be launched at the International book fair in Turin. ‘Drawing in the Sea’ takes us on an entertaining journey to the depths of the ocean, it’s part activity and part quirky facts about all things sea-related – from sea creatures to tides, shells, boats, tattooed sailors and so on… As usual it is my own quirky take on the subject, allowing the reader to see the sea as never before. Here, the constellations are made of starfish, huge blue whales live alongside miscroscopic plankton and pigs can breathe underwater! The book is available from Corraini and will be coming to my online shop soon.

The Silver spoon in German

The Silver Spoon for children is now available in German, bringing the total number of available languages to 8 (Spanish, French, Danish, Dutch, Russian, English and Japanese!). That's an awful lot of re-writing... It's actually been out a while now and is published by Edel in collaboration with Phaidon. Here's the cover and a few of the spreads.
